Concert's Support for Burn Fund Centre Recognized at Third Annual Responder Dinner

Concert’s significant contribution to the establishment of the Burn Fund Centre in Vancouver was recognized last month by the BC Professional Firefighters’ Burn Fund at its Third Annual Responder Dinner. Concert was honoured during the evening’s tribute video, which recognized the company, its founders and its employees, for their powerful spirit of giving and their many contributions to the Burn Fund Centre in Vancouver, BC.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child – and I often think of the Burn Fund Centre as a child,” said Lisa Lacamell, Burn Fund Executive Director. “The village that helped us the most was Concert… they were an amazing team and helped to make the building very special.”

Concert played a pivotal role in creating the Burn Fund Centre, which opened its doors in 2016. The Concert team helped to identify an appropriate location, offered design and development expertise, and provided project and construction management. Concert’s contribution of time, skills and experience represented a $750,000 donation, which helped turn the dream of a Burn Fund Centre into reality.

“Our team was enthusiastic and excited to be involved,” said Brian McCauley, Concert President & Chief Executive Officer. “This was a wonderful opportunity to step up and support a worthwhile initiative. Our involvement reflects our values of giving back to the community; values that were instilled in the company from the outset by Concert co-founders David Podmore and Jack Poole.”

Today, the Burn Fund Centre provides a supportive and nurturing temporary home for out-of-town recovering burn and trauma survivors. The beautifully-designed Centre features eight short-term stay furnished suites, along with common spaces, including a children’s play area, large family kitchen and a Concert Community Room. The Centre also offers burn and safety educational resources and programs. Since opening its doors two years ago, more than 100 families have been accommodated at the Centre.
