Vancouver, BC, Canada – On April 1, 2008, Concert celebrated the addition of the ‘Tapestry’ brand to its first seniors community.
Concert’s The O’Keefe seniors lifestyle community has been renamed Tapestry at The O’Keefe – Arbutus Walk. To commemorate the occasion, a new granite sign was unveiled at a ceremony attended by numerous guests, residents and local government representatives. Tapestry is located on the site of the former Carling O'Keefe brewery on West 12th Avenue within Arbutus Walk – a diverse master-planned neighbourhood in Vancouver's desirable Kitsilano neighbourhood.
“We are very excited to add the Tapestry brand to this exceptional retirement community,” said David Podmore, President and CEO, Concert Properties Ltd. “Concert remains committed to redefining seniors living communities across Canada to meet the unique needs of today’s seniors.”
Celebrating its five-year anniversary this year, Tapestry at The O’Keefe – Arbutus Walk has enjoyed tremendous success, thanks to its outstanding residents and dedicated staff who will continue in their roles and pursuit of excellence.
Similar to a luxury resort, Tapestry communities represent a high-end lifestyle for seniors who value their independence and want to be involved in a fun and active community with an excellent quality of life.
“We will continue to deliver the Five-Star Fun that has been our hallmark for more than 30 years,” said Amber DeSousa, Regional Sales Manager, Leisure Care. “While the name has changed, Tapestry at The O’Keefe – Arbutus walk will continue to offer the same amenities and services that exceed traditional retirement homes.”
Concert was also pleased to announce that Tapestry at Village Gate West in Etobicoke, ON opened the doors to its first residents on April 1, 2008. The 11-storey Tapestry at Village Gate West was inspired by Concert’s Tapestry at The O’Keefe - Arbutus Walk and contains 168 rental suites, along with 3,400 square feet of retail. Like Tapestry at The O’Keefe – Arbutus Walk, Concert is the developer of Tapestry at Village Gate West and co-owns the development with OMERS and Sun Life Financial. Leisure Care is also the exclusive operator.
“We are delighted to welcome our first residents to our second Tapestry seniors retirement community,” said David Podmore. “Tapestry at Village Gate West is an innovative seniors living community offering amenities and services that exceed traditional retirement homes.”
Construction on Concert’s third seniors living community – Tapestry at Wesbrook Village UBC – will begin in late summer 2008.
Tapestry Retirement Communities offer amenities and services that exceed traditional retirement living. Tapestry is like a five-star resort where every service is precisely tailored to each resident’s particular idea of fun. Nothing about Tapestry suggests "old folks" retirement home – this is seniors living at its very best.
Leisure Care currently operates Tapestry Retirement Communities in Toronto's Etobicoke neighbourhood at Village Gate West near the Historic Village of Islington and in the west side of Vancouver at The O'Keefe - Arbutus Walk.
