Vancouver, BC, Canada – Concert Properties is pleased to announce that together with its partner OMERS, Jazz was honoured last night at the 6th Annual MAC Awards held by the Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO).
The award for Best New Rental Development High-Rise in Ontario for 2006 recognizes a company that has achieved excellence in the development of a new rental housing project. Jazz was judged on the overall creativity, suite design and quality of architecture.
“As our second project with our alliance partners OMERS, we are proud of the recognition and very pleased with the incredible market acceptance of this new rental building,” said Brian McCauley, Executive Vice President, Concert Properties, who accepted the award on behalf of the partners. “With over 80 per cent leased in just three months following final completion, along with development costs below and rental rates above those originally projected, Jazz has become an incredibly valuable asset for Concert and OMERS.”
Built in partnership with OMERS, the 28-storey highrise incorporates the preservation and reconstruction of three heritage buildings on Church Street and blends seamlessly into the neighbourhood. Jazz contains 388 suites of purpose-built “condo” quality rental housing, while blending the past with the present by retaining the character of this historic Toronto neighbourhood.”
Suites feature condominium quality finishes including open concept kitchens, in-suite laundry, dishwashers and fabulous city views from private terraces and balconies. The environmentally sustainable design includes “green roofs” on the eighth floor, high efficiency boilers, occupancy sensors, compact fluorescent light fixtures and more.
Jazz is located right in the heart of downtown Toronto within walking distance of transit, employment, great shopping, entertainment, nightlife, restaurants and close to major arterial roads.
Jazz is another step in Concert and OMERS commitment to invest $300 million to develop new assured rental housing over the next few years in the Toronto area.
The FRPO award was announced on November 29 in Toronto and was open to projects that were completed between October 31, 2004 and October 31, 2006 throughout Ontario.
