Tapestry Seniors Get Active at the Etobicoke Terry Fox Run

Getting active and working together are the focus of a newly-formed walking club at Tapestry at Village Gate West in Etobicoke, Ontario.

On September 17, 2017, a group of seniors from Tapestry at Village Gate West participated in the annual Terry Fox Run. Over the past two months, the walking club has been training up from 1km to over 5km, and completed the 5.7km event on Sunday. At 94-years of age, even the most seasoned walker of the group came out for this community event.

Every year, Terry Fox Runs are held in over 9000 communities across Canada with the goal of raising funds for cancer research.

Together, the Tapestry walking club raised nearly $600 in donations for the cause. Tapestry seniors lifestyle communities offer ways to get active, be social, and encourage residents to get involved in local community events.
