David R. Podmore, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Widely recognized as one of Vancouver’s most influential contributors to the real estate industry, David Podmore has been in the business for more than 30 years. David brought years of planning and development experience to the table when he co-founded Concert with Jack Poole in 1989. Today, David serves as Concert’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer.

David is often recognized for his tireless efforts to give back to the community, both professionally and personally. David currently serves as Chair of the BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), on the Board of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, is a Director of Fortis BC, LifeLabs (formerly MDS Metro Laboratory Services), Ainsworth Inc. and is Chair of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Foundation. David was the first recipient of the Award of Excellence established by the Real Estate Institute of BC honouring a member of the profession who has shown outstanding leadership and contribution to the real estate industry and to the community, and has received numerous community and industry awards during his career. In February 2011 he was selected as British Columbia's "Residential Builder of the Year".

David holds a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Community and Regional Planning from the University of British Columbia and a Masters Degree (Earth Sciences) specializing in Urban Planning from the University of Alberta. He is a Registered Professional Planner (MCIP), a Professional Member of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (RIBC) and a Professional Member of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI). In 2005, David was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

 

Brian McCauley, President

Brian has been in the real estate development business for over twenty years. Since joining Concert in 1994, Brian has managed development for more than 3,500 residential units, guided development of the Port Theatre in the City of Nanaimo and the Marriott Hotel in Victoria and conducted the analysis of a large scale land development project on Vancouver Island.

In 2002, Brian guided Concert’s expansion in Ontario leading the development of assured rental housing in Toronto in joint venture with OMERS. In 2006, Brian was named Executive Vice President of Concert, assuming responsibility for all of Concert’s residential development across Canada, as well as involvement in Concert’s Strategic Investment Plan. Marking Concert’s 20th Anniversary, Brian was named President on June 1, 2009.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon specializing in Housing, Urban Redevelopment and Development Economics. He presently serves on the boards of the Urban Development Institute (UDI) Pacific Region and the Building Industry and Land Development Association of Toronto (BILD). He is also a member of the Leadership Committee of Junior Achievement BC.

 

John McLaughlin, Chief Financial Officer

John joined the Concert team in 2011 as Chief Financial Officer. As a member of the executive leadership team, John supports decision-making and financial accountability throughout the organization by providing leadership and overall direction of the finance function.

For over a decade, John served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC). He played an integral role in making Vancouver’s 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games one of the most successful in Olympic history. For his tireless efforts, he received the highest honour possible from the International Olympic Committee — the Olympic Order. 

Prior to his involvement with the Olympics John held senior finance positions within Norwesco Packaging, a not-for-profit organization and the event that put Vancouver on the map — Expo 86.  

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queens University and has thirty years of experience as a Chartered Accountant. In 2010 the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC awarded him their prestigious Fellowship designation, FCA, in recognition of the honour he has brought to his profession.
