About Jack Poole

Generally regarded as one of Vancouver’s best known citizens, Jack Poole is a prominent businessman, an experienced developer, an avid sportsman and a passionate philanthropist.

After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Poole began his career working with Engineered Homes in Calgary before moving to Vancouver in 1963. It was here that he and partner Graham Dawson co-founded the Daon Development Corporation. Formed to build housing in resource towns, the company grew to become the second largest real estate development and investment company in North America. In 1989, Poole teamed with David Podmore to form VLC Properties, the precursor to Concert Properties.

Born in Mortlach, Saskatchewan, Poole has always been a keen and talented sportsman. Today, Poole combines his professional expertise with his love of sports in his role as Chairman of the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC). In addition, Jack is partner and/or owner of 17 private businesses in Canada and the United States, serves as a director of several companies and organizations and was Founding Chairman of the Molson Vancouver Indy.

In addition to the Order of British Columbia and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, Poole’s recent awards include Canada’s Sport Executive of the Year, Tourism Leader of the Year, Vancouver Junior Board of Trade Community Service Leader and Jack Diamond Sports Personality of the Year. Poole has also been recognized by Simon Fraser University with the Distinguished Community Leader Award and was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 as the WAC Bennett Award winner.

In 2006, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, announced Jack Poole’s appointment to the Order of Canada. Established in 1967 to recognize outstanding achievement and service, the Order of Canada is Canada's highest civilian order.

Poole and his wife Darlene play very active roles in the community, providing philanthropic support for many BC health and charity institutions. Poole is a proud husband with five children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

About David Podmore

Widely recognized as one of Vancouver’s most influential contributors to the real estate industry, David Podmore has been in the business for more than 30 years.

David began his career in 1974 as a Transportation Planner in the Engineering Department of the City of Edmonton. Over the next six years, he progressed through a variety of senior planning positions including Director of Community Planning and Deputy to the City’s Board of Commissioners.

He returned to Vancouver in 1980 as Vice President of Planning, Design and Engineering for the newly established BC Place Limited. David was responsible for the comprehensive urban development plan that included acquiring what is now known as the Expo or Pacific Place lands, developing a master infrastructure plan to guide development of the lands through Expo and subsequent urban development, and designing and implementing the plan. As the first President and Chief Executive Officer of the British Columbia Pavilion Corporation, David was also responsible for the development and operation of the BC Pavilion at Expo 86.

Following the world’s fair, David joined Bell Canada Enterprises Development (BCED) as Vice President of Development, where he was responsible for west coast operations including substantial development activities in California.

David is often recognized for his tireless efforts to give back to the community, both professionally and personally. David currently serves as Chair of the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project (VCCEP) and Chair of the BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), is a Director of Terasen Inc., LifeLabs (formerly MDS Metro Laboratory Services), the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) and is Vice Chair of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Foundation.

David was also a Director of the Canadian Tourism Commission for eight years, a member of the BC Progress Board, Immediate Past President of the Urban Development Institute (Pacific Region) and Immediate Past Chair of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (and former Chair of the Foundation’s Telethon). During the term of David’s chairmanship of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, and under his guidance, more than $74 million was raised.

During the bid for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, David led a venue development team that guided preliminary planning for more than $600 million in new infrastructure. He volunteered his personal time to chair the successful “Vote Yes” campaign urging Vancouver voters to support the bid in a plebiscite.

David is the first recipient of the Award of Excellence established by the Real Estate Institute of BC honouring a member of the profession who has shown outstanding leadership and contribution to the real estate industry and to the community, and received the 2003 Community Service Award from Volunteer Vancouver for his extensive community service.

David holds a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Community and Regional Planning from the University of British Columbia and a Masters Degree (Earth Sciences) specializing in Urban Planning from the University of Alberta. He is a Registered Professional Planner (MCIP), a Professional Member of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (RIBC) and a Professional Member of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI). In 2005, David was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

David and his wife Janice live in Vancouver and are the proud parents of four grown children. Born and raised in Vancouver, David is an avid outdoors person who enjoys fly-fishing, skiing, hiking and golf. His hobbies include blacksmithing and woodworking.

About Dan Jarvis

Upon completion of a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Queen’s University and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard University, Dan started his career in investment banking in 1975, working with Wood Gundy Ltd. in Toronto and Montreal. In 1980, Dan joined Bell Canada and was responsible for leading the task force that formed BCE Inc. He later acted as Treasurer of BCE Inc and was actively involved in both capital raising and acquisitions.

In 1986, Dan accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer of BCE Development Corporation, a position he held until 1989 when he joined Intrawest as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Director. In 1990, Dan took Intrawest public and was responsible for acquisitions and capital raising as the company grew from a market capitalization of $80 million to $1.8 billion at the time of its acquisition by Fortress Canada Investment Corporation in 2006. During that period, the company raised several billion dollars in public and private financings in Canada, the United States and Asia, and went public on the NYSE. By 2006, Intrawest had 11 resorts across North America as well as real estate projects and investments in Europe.

Most recently, Dan led the formation and launch of a new destination club for Abercrombie & Kent.

Dan presently serves on the boards of BC Pavilion Corporation and Harry Winston Diamond Corporation. He has previously served on the boards of Intrawest Corporation, BCE Development Corporation, New Brunswick Telephone and the Canadian Tourism Commission.

Dan is actively involved in the community, has served on the boards of Arts Umbrella and several school boards and is an active supporter of Union Gospel Mission.

An avid gardener, Dan and his wife Wendy live in Vancouver. They are the proud parents of five children.

About Brian McCauley

Following graduate studies in architecture at the University of Manitoba (1983), Brian McCauley began his career in architecture and development working with the prominent Vancouver architectural firms of Raymond Letkeman Architects and Rafii Architects.

In 1988, Brian completed a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon specializing in Housing, Urban Redevelopment and Development Economics. Following these post graduate studies, Brian took a position with Grand Adex Developments in Vancouver where he was responsible for overseeing development management of a number of high-density multi-family residential projects.

In 1990, Brian became an associate with Davidson Yuen Simpson Architects in Vancouver. Over the next three years, he was responsible for design and project management for a number of large scale urban redevelopments, including Concert’s Collingwood Village.
Following formal approval of the Collingwood Village rezoning, Concert Properties was fortunate to have Brian join the team to continue on as Senior Development Manager, responsible for overseeing the initial build out of Collingwood Village.

Since joining Concert in 1994, Brian has managed development approvals for more than 2,200 residential units, guided development of the Performing Arts Theatre in the City of Nanaimo and the Marriott Hotel in Victoria and conducted the analysis of a large scale land development project on Vancouver Island.

In 2002, Brian guided Concert’s expansion in Ontario leading the development of assured rental housing in Toronto in joint venture with OMERS. In 2006, Brian was named Executive Vice President of Concert, assuming responsibility for all of Concert’s residential development across Canada, as well as involvement in Concert’s Strategic Investment Plan.

Brian presently serves on the boards of the Urban Development Institute (UDI) Pacific Region and the Building Industry and Land Development Association of Toronto (BILD). He is also a member of the Leadership Committee of Junior Achievement BC.

Brian lives in Steveston with his wife Fiona. His son Adam and daughter Nicole are currently attending university.
