Concert Properties Exceeds its Own Industry Challenge for Building for Kids

BC’s Real Estate & Development Community joined together to help raise funds to purchase vital equipment for BC Children’s Hospital.

Vancouver, BC, Canada – Concert Properties employees exceeded their goal for Building for Kids and raised more than $44,000. This was the most contributed to the Building for Kids initiative by any one company.

Concert Properties is a proud partner of Building for Kids. For years, the BC Children’s Hospital has provided sick kids treatment, hope and even life itself. BC’s Real Estate & Development Community joined together in the spring of 2006 to help raise funds to purchase vital equipment for BC Children’s Hospital through a program called Building for Kids. The Community’s goal was to raise $1million this year and that was surpassed.

“In our industry we know the value of good equipment. We couldn’t build our next project with outdated tools and therefore we can’t expect those who save kids’ lives to do the same,” said President & CEO, David Podmore who is also the outgoing Chair of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Our industry is booming and it is important that we share some of our good fortune with the future of our community – our children.”

On March 16, 2006, David Podmore challenged his colleagues in the real estate industry to meet or exceed Concert’s anticipated contribution to Building for Kids. Concert’s own target was $25,000 and through a number of initiatives organized by the employees – raffles, auctions, jeans day, contributions per firm sale at its Tapestry project, slow-pitch tournament to name a few – the company exceeded its goal.

Podmore extended thanks and appreciation to Paul Williams and Alan Boniface for leading the Building for Kids initiative at BC Children’s Hospital. The actual amount raised by the real estate industry was $1,002,600.

Concert Properties was also a proud sponsor of the inaugural BC Children’s Hospital Fishing for Kids, organized by the West Coast Fishing Club, which raised more than $490,000, also far exceeding its first time goal.

Serving as the Chair of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation for the past three years and being part of the Board for some eight years, Podmore completed his term with the annual BC Children’s Hospital Telethon which raised more than $13 million this year – the most ever raised by a telethon in North America.
