David R. Podmore, MA (Esc), D.Tech. (Hon.) MCIP, RI, FRI

David Podmore is President & Chief Executive Officer of Concert Properties, an award-winning diversified real estate development company that he co-founded with Concert Chair Jack Poole in 1989. Concert was recognized in both 2004 and 2005 with the "Grand SAM Award", presented by the Canadian Home Builders' Association and considered the industry's highest national honour. Most recently, Concert was recognized as one of BC Business Magazine's Top 25 Best Companies to Work for in British Columbia.

From an initial capitalization of $27.3 million, Concert now has assets in excess of $1.0 billion and shareholders equity of over $500 million. Owned exclusively by Canadian union and management pension funds, the company continues to be a major residential builder, both for-sale and rental, and has diversified into resort developments, hotels and seniors community living as well as industrial and commercial properties.

David's extensive development career includes serving as Vice President of Planning, Design and Engineering for BC Place Ltd., and President and Chief Executive Officer of the British Columbia Pavilion Corporation for Expo 86.

Throughout his more than 33 years in the real estate development industry, David has been actively involved in the community, both professionally and personally. David currently serves as the Chair of the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project (VCCEP) and Chair of the BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), is a Director of Borealis BC Labs Inc. (formerly MDS Metro Laboratory Services) and is Vice President of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Foundation. David is also the Immediate Past President of the Urban Development Institute of BC (Pacific Region), a member of the BC Progress Board, Immediate Past Chair of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation and was a Director of the Canadian Tourism Commission for eight years. He is the first recipient of the Award of Excellence established by The Real Estate Institute of BC, and received the 2003 Community Service Award from Volunteer Vancouver.

In 2005 David was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
