Celebrating Canada Day in style

Concert’s Tapestry brand of retirement communities are known for doing some things differently, and in the process, for redefining notions of what retirement can be.

A great example of the Tapestry lifestyle in action is the recent Canada Day celebrations. Each community planned a fun-filled afternoon to celebrated Canada’s 146th birthday and included elements such as Canadian-themed games, musical entertainment, birthday cake, authentically Canadian food and refreshments, prizes, a caricature artist and photo booth. Let’s just say a good time was had by all!

In Concert’s Tapestry model for seniors living, the goal is to enhance residents’ lifestyle by offering choice, top-notch service and most importantly, fun. Seniors live as independently as they choose in their own fully-equipped apartment home with an exhaustive list of amenities as well as a community of people right outside their door. Concert acquires land for master-planned community in Etobicoke

Concert is pleased to announce the acquisition of a significant development site in the Etobicoke neighbourhood of Toronto which will be transformed into a multi-phase, master-planned community.

Located on the western edge of the Etobicoke city centre on Dundas Street between Kipling and Shaver Ave, the site will accommodate over 1.1 million square feet of primarily residential space. Emerging as an area undergoing significant growth and development, this transit-oriented site is within a five minute walk of the Kipling Station – allowing for easy access to the downtown core via TTC or GO trains. Additionally, Highway 427 is easily accessible, providing excellent connections to the 400-series highways. Concert’s first master-planned community in Toronto, Village Gate West is located just over one kilometre away and is home to three rental highrises in addition to a Tapestry seniors retirement community.

“Concert has a proven track record when it comes to creating transformative and innovative master-planned communities both in Toronto and Vancouver” said Brian McCauley, Concert’s President and COO. “This acquisition provides the opportunity to build upon the success of Village Gate West and create another vibrant, complete community.”

Since expanding into the Ontario residential market in 2001, Concert has completed over 2,100 homes, with a further 450 currently under construction. Approximately 500 additional homes will be created in the heart of downtown Toronto with the construction of 88 Scott, a 58-storey mixed-use development now pre-selling.

Founded in 1989, Concert specializes in developing rental apartments, condominium homes and retirement communities, acquiring and developing commercial, industrial and infrastructure properties and in property management. With operations in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario and the backing of more than 200,000 Canadians represented by the union and management pension plans who own Concert, our commitment is to build strong, sustainable communities across Canada.
