Patina penthouses represent the pinnacle of downtown living

With Patina, Concert’s 42-storey condominium residence, is now a Vancouver landmark. We recently brought the highly-anticipated Patina Penthouse Collection to market and at present just three in this exclusive collection remain for sale. All are available for immediate occupancy.

These one-of-a-kind residences feature over-height ceilings to complement curtains of floor-to-ceiling glazing that showcase breathtaking panoramic city and ocean views. No expense was spared in finishing these remarkable homes – the kitchens for instance feature Snaidero cabinetry and are equipped with the finest Sub-Zero and Miele appliances.

Land deal paves way for new rental development at UBC

Concert has secured a prime piece of land at the University of British Columbia (UBC) that will soon be home to the company’s latest residential rental building in Vancouver, Axis. The property is located in Chancellor Place at UBC and was acquired on a 94-year prepaid lease from St. Andrew’s College, a theological college of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

The 15-storey Axis development will break ground later this month and will contain 174 self-contained studio and one bedroom market rental suites with full kitchens and in-suite laundry. Concert will contribute a 25,000-square-foot landscaped green space complete with a children’s playground in conjunction with Axis. Completion is scheduled for the summer of 2013.

“While it has been a significant economic challenge to develop rental housing in Vancouver for some time, we are happy to be back in the game,” said Brian McCauley, Concert’s President. “Axis will make a great follow up to Concert’s recent Tapestry at Wesbrook Village UBC seniors residence which contains rental apartments and for-sale condominiums oriented towards seniors looking for a unique campus lifestyle.”

Sustainability will be a key consideration in the development of Axis which is targeting REAP gold certification. Administered independently by the UBC’s Sustainability Office, the Residential Environmental Assessment Program (REAP) certification is awarded only after stringent sustainability accomplishments have been met.

CommunityWorks: Doing our part this holiday season

Cold weather and winter storms can pose a challenge to staying warm and healthy if one doesn’t have the proper outdoor attire. Residents of Concert’s rental communities in Vancouver banded together to combat this challenge by donating new or gently used hats, scarfs, mittens, gloves and socks to the Crabtree Corner Family Resource Centre this winter. Located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside – one of Canada’s most impoverished neighbourhoods – Crabtree Corner helps women and their families improve the quality of their lives by providing programs and services for those who need them the most.

In addition, this past fall a group of 12 staff from Concert’s Vancouver office volunteered for two shifts in Union Gospel Mission’s (UGM) kitchen where they helped serve dinner to those less fortunate. Staff returned to UGM in December, this time to assist with the assembly and wrapping of Christmas hampers for families in need.

Once again this year, Concert’s Toronto office staff participated in a neighbourhood toy drive organized by the Toronto Police department to benefit less fortunate children and teens in the St. Lawrence community. Staff showed they had big hearts and filled the office’s tree with an array of gifts that were then delivered by the Salvation Army to those in need.

These efforts are all part of Concert CommunityWorks, the handle we’ve assigned to the numerous charitable activities and events that we undertake to support the communities in which we work, live and build.

Founded in 1989, Concert specializes in developing rental apartments, condominium homes and retirement communities, acquiring and developing commercial, industrial and infrastructure properties and in property management. With operations in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario and the backing of more than 200,000 Canadians represented by the union and management pension plans who own Concert, our commitment is to build strong, sustainable communities across Canada.
