Nine nominations for 88 Scott in the 2013 BILD Awards

Concert is extremely proud to announce that the company’s 88 Scott development has received nine nominations in the 2013 BILD (Building Industry and Land Development) Awards.

88 Scott, Concert’s 58-storey tower in the heart of downtown Toronto was nominated for Project of the Year, Best High-Rise Building Design, Best Suite Design - Under 750 sq. ft. and Best Places to Grow Community of the Year. The sales and marketing efforts for 88 Scott were also recognized with nominations for Best High-Rise Sales Office, Best Model Suite, Best Project Rendering, Best Project Logo and Best Social Media Campaign.

“It is a tremendous honour to be the recipient of so many nominations from such a well-regarded awards program,” said Brian McCauley, Concert’s President & COO. “Everyone at Concert is extremely proud of 88 Scott – it represents the largest single mixed-use building the company has ever undertaken, a dynamic addition to the City of Toronto’s ever-evolving skyline and a sales success story.”

Now in its 33rd year, the BILD Awards are presented by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (formed through the merger of the Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association and Urban Development Institute/Ontario) to recognize the builders, designers and sales and marketing professionals that bring developments to life in the Greater Toronto Area. The winners will be announced at a gala reception on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Paramount Conference & Event Venue.

How Concert gives back to the industry

In addition to Concert CommunityWorks initiatives aimed at supporting the communities in which we work, live and build, those at Concert take pride in finding ways to share expertise and give back to the development industry.

For example, Concert’s Chairman & CEO, David Podmore has recently been a keynote speaker for the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia, NAIOP (the commercial real estate development association) and The Phoenix Group of Vancouver. In the near future he will also be speaking to the Mortgage Investment Association of BC and the North American YMCA Development Organization (NAYDO). In conjunction with Concert’s Investments team, David recently helped mentor the UBC team in the 2013 NAIOP Pacific Northwest Real Estate Challenge held in Seattle – a prestigious competition which the team went on to win.

Concert’s President & COO Brian McCauley is also very active within the industry. This month, Brian was a panel speaker at the Vancouver Real Estate Forum, an event which he chaired in 2012. Brian will also be discussing emerging market trends from the perspective of a sustainability-minded developer at an upcoming speaking engagement with the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC). In addition, Brian currently serves as the Chair of the Urban Development Industry Pacific Region (UDI) where he is an active speaker.

These initiatives are representative of Concert’s belief that finding ways to give back to the industry is not only the right thing to do, it is one of the key means by which Concert is, in fact, “a developer with a difference”.

Founded in 1989, Concert specializes in developing rental apartments, condominium homes and retirement communities, acquiring and developing commercial, industrial and infrastructure properties and in property management. With operations in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario and the backing of more than 200,000 Canadians represented by the union and management pension plans who own Concert, our commitment is to build strong, sustainable communities across Canada.
