Participation in "Hey Neighbour" Supports Connection and Community

Concert is pleased to participate in Hey Neighbour, a City of Vancouver-sponsored pilot program designed to build connection and community among residents of multi-family rental housing.

Through the program, resident coordinators at Concert’s Remington rental building have access to resources to help create resident-centred events and activities designed to foster relationships and create community.

“Research shows that when neighbours know each other, these relationships foster a stronger community where people look out for one another and support each other,” says Penny Hall, Property Manager at Collingwood, who has enthusiastically supported the site’s participation in the program.

Remington, a 20-storey high-rise located in vibrant Collingwood Village, was the perfect candidate for participation in the city’s 12-month pilot program, which ends later this fall. Remington has attractive amenities, including a resident lounge which features a beautifully landscaped deck with barbeques and picnic tables.

Since signing-on to Hey Neighbour, Remington has hosted several resident-centred events, including an Easter egg hunt and an emergency preparedness seminar. Hall says Remington’s residents have responded positively, with high levels of participation in these specially-planned events.

“Building community and connection is something we always strive to do at Concert,” says Bev Greene, Senior Vice President, Property Management. “This initiative has provided additional capacity to help residents connect and create a stronger community that benefits everyone.”
