September 5, 2023, Vancouver, BC – Concert Properties is very pleased to welcome Christine Bergeron today as she begins her role of President & CEO.
Christine is a highly respected, strategic and values-based leader, whose personable style aligns with Concert Properties’ people-first culture. She brings to the company more than 25 years’ experience building and leading financial firms where she guided their strategic development while fostering prudent risk management and thoughtful stakeholder relations.
Over her career, Christine has led wealth management, business banking and commercial real estate portfolios, has financed innovative companies as a venture capitalist and has experience in asset management. She is also a proven entrepreneur who has both created and helped build successful financial firms, and this entrepreneurial perspective has continued to inform her solutions-oriented approach as a leader.
Christine was most recently the President & CEO of Vancity, Canada’s largest credit union with over $33 billion in assets under administration.
Christine joins Concert Properties, a $9 billion company, including $3.3 billion in infrastructure, in excellent financial shape and undergoing tremendous growth. This success has been guided by our founding principles that have delivered positive returns every year to our owners – the Canadian union and management pension plans and institutional investors that represent over 200,000 Canadians.
“Concert Properties has an impressive reputation, grounded by a culture and people-first values that resonate with me, and I am inspired by the company’s vision of building resilient, inclusive and sustainable communities,” says Bergeron.
The future also looks bright as the company embarks on the largest construction effort in its history, with over $2 billion in projects under construction or planned over the next five years, representing over $1 billion in wages created across Canada.
“David Podmore, an industry icon, has built a highly respected real estate enterprise delivering impressive growth and returns, and I look forward to working with the team to take Concert Properties into the next phase of its growth,” says Bergeron.
Christine has been the recipient of several prestigious awards. In 2022, she was named by BC Business as the winner of the Corporate Leader category in the Women of the Year Awards, and she also received the Business in Vancouver Influential Woman in Business Award. She has extensive experience serving on boards, including UBC’s Sauder School of Business Faculty Advisory Board, InBC Investment Corporation (Inaugural Chair), Women’s Enterprise Centre of BC (Chair), BC Business Council Board of Governors, Aviso Wealth Inc. and United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative.
Concert Properties' co-founder David Podmore, OBC remains Chair of the Board, and along with the company's senior executive team, will support and work closely with Bergeron.
“Given her impressive experience and background, her inclusive and collaborative leadership style and her alignment with our principles, values and culture, I am confident in Christine’s ability to successfully lead Concert Properties to continued growth and prosperity,” says Podmore.
