Colourful Paths: Showcasing local art at Burke

Led by our principle of giving back to the communities where we work, Concert Properties was proud to enliven the construction site hoarding at our Burke condominium project in downtown Toronto into an expansive public art piece. The transformation of a dull construction enclosure into an engaging art exhibit showcases the work of a local artist.

In collaboration with STEPS Public Art, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting public art across the City of Toronto, visual artist Yasaman Mehrsa was selected based on her illustrative style and experience within the St. James Town arts community.

Located at the corner of Sherbourne and Howard Streets, Yasaman’s design, called Colourful Paths, is a narrative about people’s everyday life in St. James Town. The exhibit celebrates diversity, depicted by colourful shoes along a pathway that reflects individuals of all backgrounds enjoying all the neighbourhood has to offer - nature, hobbies, food and culture.

The art also draws inspiration from Burke’s unique landscape feature, a lively and colourful pathway that connects the community. Burke, a contemporary 53-storey tower with 502 homes will contribute to the area’s considerable growth and transformation. The public art installation can be viewed now through to the completion of Burke’s construction period.
