Drift opens the door to a new waterfront community in North Vancouver

Drift at North Harbour began welcoming its first residents last week, marking the completion of the inaugural condominium residence in our new master-planned community. This milestone marks the beginning of a growing residential neighbourhood with new residents continuing to arrive daily.

It’s the start of a new chapter for homeowners—personalizing their spaces, creating new routines, meeting neighbours and discovering the beauty of life on the waterfront.

“We designed North Harbour to bring people together in a complete community that feels authentically North Vancouver,” says Craig Watters, Chief Operations Officer, Concert Properties. “It’s a place that both respects its surroundings and enhances the lives of those who live here. Drift is the first step in bringing this vision to life and demonstrates what people-focused planning can achieve.”

From the outset, Drift was designed to connect people to place. Located directly along the waterfront and bordered by Harbourside Drive and the iconic Spirit Trail, the building is surrounded by lush landscaping and pedestrian and cyclist-friendly pathways. These connections guide residents to welcoming public spaces, offering seamless access to the shoreline and a re-imagined Kings Mill Walk Park, scheduled to re-open this summer.

Rising nine storeys, Drift comprises 163 thoughtfully designed condominiums and townhomes and sets the vision for North Harbour. Its distinctive terraced form, designed by Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership echoes the peaks and valleys of the North Shore mountains while maximizing sweeping views of the ocean, city skyline and surrounding mountains.

These views extend beyond the homes to the eighth-floor social lounge, where residents can gather against a stunning ocean backdrop. The lounge is designed for connection and relaxation, offering space to host large dinner parties, enjoy summer BBQs on the terrace, unwind with neighbours or tend to homegrown vegetables in the shared garden.

Designed with sustainability at its core, Drift was built with a comprehensive approach that prioritizes low-carbon living, active transportation and energy efficiency. Residents have easy access to transit, car-sharing networks, electric-vehicle charging and extensive bicycle amenities. The building is connected to the community energy system operated by the Lonsdale Energy Corporation (LEC), while green roofs, landscaped gardens and a smart-sorting recycling lounge support long-term environmental stewardship, aligning with regional climate adaptation plans. The entire site was raised to help protect against potential future sea level rise.

Over time, North Harbour will continue to evolve. “In the months ahead, Concert Properties will be delivering new condominium and rental homes, retail, services and expanded public spaces along the waterfront,” adds Watters. “Above all, we’re looking forward to more people experiencing North Harbour, whether they come to visit or call this community home.”
