Concert's Commercial Communities Raise over $3,500 for BC & Alberta Guide Dogs

On October 2, 2018, the property management team at Concert’s Vancouver head office welcomed a very special visitor from the BC & Alberta Guide Dogs – a one-year-old Labrador ambassador named Maggie!

Currently undergoing training, Maggie is one of many support dogs who will provide invaluable assistance to persons living with autism or visual impairment. The cost of raising a support dog from birth to graduation is approximately $35,000 and the benefits are life-changing. Support dogs provide their owners with increased safety, independence, confidence, mobility, freedom and companionship.

“When an individual or family receives their service dog from the BC & Alberta Guide Dogs, their lives are forever changed,” says Carla Fassbender, Property Manager at Concert. “We are proud that our tenants were able to mobilize in support of such a worthy cause.”

Every year, Concert holds tenant appreciation events at its residential rental and commercial property buildings. During the months of July through to September, tenant appreciation events were held at 11 of Concert’s commercial buildings, and tenants took it upon themselves to raise money in support of the guide dogs.

At the end of their efforts, Concert matched 1190 Hornby’s contribution, resulting in a total donation of $3,608.00 to this wonderful organization.

“Supporting our communities is an important part of what Concert stands for,” says Brian McCauley, Concert President and CEO. “We’re thrilled to be able to support our tenants in going above and beyond to do the same.”
