In Support of Covenant House, Concert's CEO is "Sleeping Outside so Homeless Youth Don't Have to"

The numbers are overwhelming: homelessness effects between 500 and 1,000 Vancouver youth on any given night. After fleeing unsafe home environments, many youth find themselves in even worse situations once on the street. Alone, afraid and at the mercy of the weather, it’s easy to lose hope.

Every year across Canada, Covenant House organizes a sleep out event to raise funds and awareness for its programming, a large part of which provides emergency shelter and services to at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24.

On November 15, 2018, Concert President and CEO Brian McCauley will join the many individuals from across the country who, armed with only a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard, have signed up to experience one night of what it feel likes to be without the safety and warmth of shelter.

“Our Concert team  has done a great deal to address housing needs in Metro Vancouver,”  says McCauley, who has spent 35 years working in real estate development. “However, a trip around the city shows we still have a long way to go to house those that have few options – often with no other place to sleep than on the streets. So I will be joining them to help raise funds to directly support temporary and hopefully permanent shelter.”

McCauley, who hopes to raise $15,000, invites those who share his desire to be a part of the solution end homelessness to contribute to his fundraising campaign. Your donation will provide critical funds and awareness to the Residential Crisis Programs at Covenant House Vancouver.
