Concert Properties Annual Golf Classic Scores an Eagle

Vancouver, BC, Canada – Concert’s 12th annual golf tournament hit the sweet spot raising $100,000 for the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Trades Discovery Sponsorship Program. With an additional $10,000 contribution from BCIT, the total raised this year is $110,000.

Dubbed the “Aloha! Co’ncert 2009 Golf Tournament,” the Hawaiian-themed event was a day of tropical paradise on the golf course. Keeping with traditional Hawaiian custom, the golfers were welcomed with flower leis to wear while enjoying themed holes such as the Tiki Bar, Surf Shack, Beach Cabana and two fruit stands doling out fresh fruit skewers, along with a frozen treats hole. Activity holes entertained participants with hula hooping, coconut bocce ball, limbo and a pink flamingo ring toss. At the end of the day, guests attended a reception where a troop of Hawaiian dancers performed while engaging audience members in the fun.

“Thank you to our many sponsors and staff who contributed to make this a huge success. I am so proud to be associated with such a fine event,” said David Podmore, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Concert Properties Ltd. “This year there was a critical need to support the Trades Discovery Sponsorship Program, so to have exceeded our fundraising goal is a very significant accomplishment.”

Since 2002, Concert Properties and industry partners have been working together to support the Trades Discovery Sponsorship Program. Recognizing the importance of an ongoing supply of highly-skilled and well-trained trades people to the construction trades industry, this program supports building trades students in the Trades Discovery Program at BCIT.

With the generous support of 144 golfers who played at the Quilchena Golf & Country Club in Richmond on Thursday, September 10, and previous donors, contributions to this program have exceeded $584,000 and have benefited more than 700 students.
