Burke Amenity

Burke’s completion marks a new chapter in a storied neighbourhood of Toronto

At the corner of Sherbourne and Howard Street in St. James Town, Concert Properties' newest Toronto tower is complete. Rising 53 storeys, Burke brings 502 new homes to the neighbourhood.

The building takes its name from Edmund Burke, one of Toronto's most consequential architects whose work contributed to the Bloor Street Viaduct, Osgoode Hall and McMaster Hall, among others. One of his earliest designs, the Anson Jones House, dating to the 1890s, still stands on the site alongside two other heritage homes incorporated into the development. As part of the project, two of the heritage homes were temporarily moved to make way for construction before returning to the site. Today, the exteriors of all three homes have been restored, with their interiors adapted for retail spaces, maintaining a visible connection to the site's history.

“St. James Town has a rich history, and Burke gave us an opportunity to retain a visible connection to the site's past while bringing new housing and public space to the community,” said Craig Watters, Chief Operations Officer, Concert Properties. “We're proud of what we've accomplished alongside our team and the many partners whose expertise and dedication helped bring this project to life.”

Designed by Arcadis, Burke introduces a contemporary tower alongside the restored heritage homes, with an open courtyard at street level accessible to residents and visitors. A colourful public pathway winds between the heritage homes, connecting the building to the surrounding neighbourhood and providing space to gather.
Inside, the homes feature interiors designed by esQape, combining contemporary finishes with natural materials to create warm, inviting spaces. Expansive windows bring in natural light and offer views across the city, while balconies extend the living space outdoors.

Burke offers more than 21,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space, with a variety of spaces for gathering, working and recreation. Residents have access to a chef's kitchen and private dining room for hosting, games and theatre rooms, and an outdoor terrace with barbecues.

Dedicated meeting rooms and co-working spaces provide options for working from home, while a fully equipped fitness centre with spin and yoga rooms, along with a music room, supports a range of activities and interests.

Burke's location offers convenient access to transit, local amenities and green space. Sherbourne Station is a short walk away, connecting residents to Line 2 and the broader TTC network. Nearby, Yorkville and the Church and Wellesley Village offer shopping, dining and cultural destinations, while the Rosedale Ravine Lands provide opportunities to enjoy nature within the city.

A limited number of homes remain available at Burke. Visit the Burke website to learn more.
